Jones guides Panthers to opening game win in team's third Holiday Invitational

Zamarena Jones is no stranger to the John Wall Holiday Invitational. The two time all tournament team nominee led her Bethel North Pitt Panthers team in scoring with a game high 32 points on their way to a 61-50 first round victory over the Rolesville Rams in the Wonderland bracket. Rolesville took a 10 point lead into the halftime break, but North Pitt used a 23 point fourth quarter to come away with the win.


The Panthers were aided by freshman guard Jordan Speller and sophomore forward Zihanna Lightfoot. Speller finished the game with 19 points and 5 assists while Lightfoot grabbed 11 rebounds.


Rams guard Caitlyn Jones paced the team in scoring with 24 while forwards Laila Lewis and Kayla Bush combined for 31 rebounds in the loss


North Pitt faces Charlotte Catholic in a semifinal matchup Thursday while Rolesville plays Boone Watauga in a consolation game in the Wonderland bracket.
