CARY -- The Wonderland finals are set.
Apex Friendship defeated North Raleigh Christian 48-35 in the semifinals Tuesday to set up Thursday’s title game against JWHI defending champions Baltimore St. Frances at Wake Tech Community College.
Apex Friendship broke open a close game with a 3-point play from Jada Coleman and steal and layup by freshman guard Jasmine Nivar. The Patriots went into the half ahead 21-12 and pushed the advantage to as many as 14 in the second half.
Although the Patriots picked up the win, the team felt like there was plenty of room for improvement.
“I think we need to be more aggressive rebounding and handling the ball as guards, as well as getting our post players the ball more,” Nivar said.
She led Apex Friendship with 15 points, along with five rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Indya Nivar had 12 points, 14 rebounds and three steals and Jada Coleman added 13 points and three steals.
For North Raleigh Christian, Imani Lester led all scorers with 22 points, adding 10 rebounds and three blocks.
The Knights will take on Cary Panther Creek Wednesday in the third-place game, which will be held at Cary Academy.
